Polop

Polop is a village with approximately 4.000 inhabitants, located 43 km northeast from the city of Alicante in the north of the Costa Blanca, surrounded by mountains and a wide and spectacular nature. The local economy is mainly based on agriculture.

It is a very cozy and beautiful city to explore. Featured for its beauty and history, we can find the castle in the top of the village, surrounded by its historic walls. During the visit to the castle, you will be amazed by the fantastic views. The silhouette of Mount Ponoch or Ponoig (1181 metres high.), The «sleeping lion», and the town with the church of San Pedro tower and the old cemetery, give a remarkable visual impression of this attractive town.

Other attractions in Polop are La Plaza de los Chorros with 221 spouts in the central square and the Sunday market for its product variety. Close to Polop we can visit Guadalest, the oldest town on the Costa Blanca, dramatically wedged into a rocky landscape.
